Steve Strand, owner of Strand Stone, is a visual artist, sculptor, and stone mason with over ten years of experience working in a variety of stonework techniques and styles. His work employs the rigorous discipline of old world stonework techniques to create innovative, intuitive, and original designs. These works are at once playful and imaginative yet grounded in a respect for stone as a material and the craft as a sacred ancient human tradition. The chief concern of his designs are achieving kinetic balance, harmony in color and in serving customized utilitarian function as meaningful fixtures in the lives of their owners that add beauty and a sense of integrity to the world.
